Rabbis have the difficult job of creating an inclusive congregation for a politically wide spectrum of congregants. Sometimes this can be tremendously stressful and sometimes whole congregations simply avoid controversial topics. Yet, when rabbis are well supported in leading challenging discussions, they can model civil dialogue for the community and empower others to join them. The Rabbis' Circle supports the community's rabbis through retreats and workshops focused on leading discussions in the congregations about Israel and other emerging challenging issues. On September 10, 2010, over 140 rabbis from every denomination publicly called for more respectful listening and speaking about Israel within our Jewish community:
"I felt that the Israel conversation was well planned and very important. As rabbis, we need an opportunity to be honest about our struggles with how we balance our political views, love of Israel and our responsibilities as leaders. [The facilitators] created a safe place for us to do this." - Rabbis' Retreat Participant
