For many years, Rabbi Ryan Bauer has taken teenagers from San Francisco’s Congregation Emanu-El to the national Holocaust Memorial Museum.
In the past five years or so, Bauer started noticing a change in the reaction the young people had to the exhibits. They used to walk out of the Washington, D.C., museum talking about history, lamenting the horrors of the past. Now the teenagers emerge talking about how they see parallels with the present.
