Security is a Community Effort
March 3, 2017
Posted by: JCRC Staff

Since January, Jewish institutions across the country have been evacuated one after another because of bomb threats. Just Monday, 28 sites, including three in our Bay Area Jewish community, were targeted with additional threats. There have been no reports that authorities found explosive devices at any of the sites, but there have been several incidences of vandalism, including at three Jewish cemeteries. JCRC is working with the FBI, local elected officials, Jewish agencies, area Jewish cemetery custodians and our many allies to make sure that our community's security is enhanced and sense of safety restored.
Here are the public statements of solidarity that we've received as of March 3:
Statements
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi: Statement on Anti-Semitism & Bomb Threats to Jewish Community Centers
The California Legislative Jewish Caucus: Condemns Bomb Threats Against Jewish Community Centers
San Francisco Human Rights Commission: Emphatically Condemns Recent Attacks on Jewish Community Centers & Cemetaries as Unequivocal Acts of Hatred and Anti-Semitism
Pacifica Institute: Statement of Solidarity with the American Jewish Community
San Francisco Interfaith Council: A Message From SFIC Founder and Past Chair Rita R. Semel
