Racial Justice: Advocating for Change is based on the JCRC Consensus Policy Statement for Racial Justice that was adopted in 2017. Seeing race relations in America once again strained, JCRC spent 2016 engaged in a Learning for Change effort to reflect on the consensus of the Bay Area Jewish community and study the most effective ways for our community to respond. To say that the issue grew in that year would be an understatement - it exploded. At the end of the Hebrew year of 5777 (which ends September 20, 2017), stories abound about the scapegoating of innocents, the gathering strength of racist white supremacists and a sudden upswing in overt anti-Semitism and xenophobia. This campaign will highlight different organizations who work in racial justice and ways that the community can support their efforts.
