STATEMENT

For Immediate Release
October 7, 2023

Today we awoke in shock and horror as we learned Hamas terrorists have launched an unprecedented assault on Israeli citizens from land and sky. We unequivocally condemn this terror campaign and are unwavering in our support for Israel’s right to defend its citizens. We thank the Biden Administration, world leaders, and our California and Bay Area leaders and friends for speaking out to stand with the people of Israel during this difficult time.

This weekend’s Jewish High Holidays of Shmini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are meant to be a festive occasion for our community; instead we are reeling and mourning as at least 100 Israelis have fallen victim to terror, and nearly one thousand more injured. More than 2,200 rockets have been launched at population centers, causing millions of Israelis to gather in bomb shelters for cover. Also distressing are reports of terrorists still at large after infiltrating communities in southern Israel to murder, kidnap, and hold hostage civilians.

We know this will not dampen Israel’s resolve to stand united against terror, defend its borders, and meet this deeply challenging moment.
